A budget of 17,000,000 Israeli pounds (nearly $9,000,000) has been set for the next fiscal year by Malben, the Institution for the Care of Handicapped Immigrants, maintained by the Joint Distribution Committee. The budget was announced here today by Charles Passman, director of Malben.
Nearly two-thirds-of the total will be spent on maintenance and development of hospitals and other curative institutions, over $2,500,000 will be earmarked for rehabilitation of the sick and disabled. A large hospital for chronic diseases is now nearing completion, Malben announced. Plans are under way now for rehabilitation centers for cases needing psychiatric treatment.
