Rabbi I. Usher Kirshblum, former president of the Long Island Region of the Zionist Organization of America, was named chairman of the newly-created Education Committee of the Jewish National Fund, Dr. Harris J. Levine, president of the JNF, announced today. Co-chairman of the Committee is Miss Gloria Rubin, president of Junior Hadassah. Leading educators, representing a cross-section of Jewish life throughout the country, have joined the committee as members.
At the same time, it was announced that Joseph Greenstein, educator and social worker, has been appointed director of the Education Department of the INF. “The department, under the guidance of the Education Committee of the JNF, will bring the message of Israel and of the land development and reclamation program of the Jewish National Fund to the children in the Jewish schools and the Jewish youth throughout the country,” the announcement said.
