J.N.F. Gets $100,000 at Dinner Honoring Canadian Jewish Leader

The Jewish National Fund will be enriched by a sum of nearly one hundred thousand dollars as a result of a testimonial dinner held here in honor of J. Irving Oelbaum, to mark his 31st year in Jewish -communal work. The proceeds will be used to found a colony in Israel, which will bear the name of Mr. Oelbaum.

Mr. Oelbaum left professional communal work in 1932 to enter into business, and has become an outstanding Canadian industrialist. During the subsequent years he has held high office in both Jewish and non-Jewish organizations. He has been president of the United Jewish Welfare Fund of Toronto and president of District Grand Lodge, No. 1, B’nai B’rith, which comprises all of New York State, the New England states and Eastern Canada. At the present time he is president of the Central Region of the Canadian Jewish Congress and vice-president of the Zionist Organization of Canada.
