A check for $50,000 from the Jewish National Fund in the United States was presented today to Menachem Mendel Ussishkin, world president of the Zionist fund, who arrived here to preside at the meeting of the Actions Committee of the World Zionist Organization.
The sessions, opening August 25, will take up the question of Arab-Jew relationships in Palestine and problems arising from current disorders. The meeting will be held secretly.
A report of the activities of the American Jewish National Fund was submitted today to Mr. Ussishkin by Mendel N. Fisher, of New York, campaign director, at a three-hour conference.
After the conference, Mr. Ussishkin, in a statement, expressed great satisfaction with the results of J.N.F. activities in the United States, particularly the work of Dr. Israel Goldstein, of New York, the national president.
“Under Dr. Goldstein’s leadership,” Mr. Ussishkin said, “the Jewish National Fund income of the United States is the largest since 1929.”
He added that the present situation in the Holy Land made it necessary for American Jews to do even more toward aiding the progress of the Jewish homeland.
