The land posessions of the Jewish National Fund, the Zionist land purchasing agency in Palestine, have been increased by approximately 11,000 dunams during the period following the August riots, according to a report from Jerusalem made public by the American Bureau of the Jewish National Fund. The report, which was submitted to the meeting at the General Zionist Council held last week in London, covers a period of eight months, beginning June 1, 1929, to March 3, 1930.

Popular impressions to the contrary, the report states that there are now great opportunities for large scale land purchases in Palestine. These opportunities have increased following the August riots, as many Arab land-owners are eager to sell land to the Jewish National Fund. The Zionist land purchasing agency abstained from much activity in this direction in view of its unwillingness to increase the Fund’s financial obligations.

The acquisition of new land by the Jewish National Fund included an area of 2,300 dunams, purchased with the funds supplied by the Zionists of Pittsburg for the creation of a colony in the Valley of Jezreel, which is to be known as “Nachlath Pittsburg”.
