Over $843,000 was raised by the Jewish National Fund of America through its traditional collection boxes in the past two years, the J.N.F. announced today. The organization estimated that more than 200,000 such boxes are in homes throughout the United States.
The J.N.F. revealed that it had awarded six round trips to Israel to winners of a special contest for holders of collection boxes. It also gave ten prizes each of $100 worth of Israel goods and distributed 100 book prizes. More than 75,000 persons participated in the contest, submitting boxes whose contents averaged between three and fifteen dollars each. The prizes were awarded on a regional basis.
