Undeterred by Italy’s entrance into the war and its possible effects on the future of Palestine, the Jewish National Fund decided today to start immediate construction of an urban center for 250 families.
The center will be erected on 600 dunams (125 acres) of land adjoining the Arab town of Beisan and is designed to serve ten Jewish settlements in the surrounding area.
The scheme envisages establishment in the center of a trading place, workshops, a hotel, a physician’s office and a pharmacy. Among the settlers will be 40 Sephardic families which formerly resided in Beisan.
