Hon. Curtis D. Wilbur, Secretary of Navy, to Make Address

The fourth annual convention of the Jewish Welfare Board will be held in Washington, D. C., on December 16. Reports on the progress made by the organization and the development of the Jewish Community Center throughout the country, will be presented by officers of the Board and by the presidents of various Y.M.H.A. and Y. W. H. A. Federations. The Hon. Curtis D. Wilbur, Secretary of the Navy, will be one of the principal speakers at the convention.

A national committee of which Leon J. Obermayer, of Philadelphia, is chairman, is in charge of arrangements. The sessions will be held at the Jewish Community Center in Washington, 16th and Q Streets. Judge Irving Lehman, president of the Jewish Welfare Board, will present his report at the morning session. Maurice D. Rosenberg, chairman of the Convention Committee for Washington, will greet the delegates. A report on the Army and Navy work of the Jewish Welfare Board will be submitted by Dr. Cyrus Adler, chairman of the Army and Navy Committee. Harry L. Glucksman, executive director of the Jewish Welfare Board, will present a report on the work of the organization. A report suggesting a revision in the constitution of the Jewish Welfare Board will also be presented.

The afternoon session will be devoted to reports on the progress being made by Jewish Community Centers throughout the country. These reports will be presented by the heads of Y. M. and Y. W. H. A. Federations. Among those who will speak are Felix Fuld, president of the New Jersey Federation of Y. M. and Y. W. H. A.’s; Sol M. Stroock, president of the Metropolitan League of Jewish Community Associations; Bernard B. Given, of Syracuse, president of the Federation of Y. M. and Y. W. H. A. and Kindred Associations; Henry Weinberg, of Richmond, Va., president of the Middle Atlantic States Federation of Y.M.H.A.’s and Y.W.H.A.’s; George E., Gordon, of Boston, president of the Association of Young Men and Young Women’s Hebrew Associations of New England, and Samuel Druck, of Scranton, Pa., president of the Pennsylvania Federation of Young Men’s Hebrew Associations and Young Women’s Hebrew Associations. Consideration will also be given at this session to reports on the financial aspect of the Jewish Welfare Board, and Benjamin J. Buttenwieser, treasurer of the organization will present a financial report.

The sessions will close with a banquet at the Jewish Community Center at which Rabbi Simon will preside. The speakers will include Justice Irving Lehman, president of the Jewish Welfare Board, Maurice D. Rosenberg, and Louis Marshall.
