The Jewish War Veterans of United States today ?pealed to the U.S. Government to press for action by the Security Council to en##rce peace in Palestine and asked that the American embargo on arms to the Middle ?st be lifted, The appeal was contained in a statement issued by Col. Julius Klein, ?tional commander of the J.W.V.
At a luncheon in the Senate dining room today, the J.W.V. presented their ?ard of merit to Sen. Raymond E. Baldwin, Republican of Connecticut, for his advancement of understanding and cooperation among citizens of all racial, religious, ?cial and economic strata of American life.”
Speakers included Sen. Baldwin, Sen. Albert Hawkes of New Jersey, Sen. Arthur Vandenberg, President Pro Tempore of the Senate and Mayor Israel Rokseh of Tel ?viv. The Senators expressed the hope that the decision of the U.N. to establish Jewish state would scon be consummated.
