Vladimir Jabotinsky remains the leader of the Zionist Revisionists although he has absented himself for six months until the party’s convention in December, Meer Grossman, vice-president of the Revisionist Union, declared today at a press conference in the Revisionists’ headquarters.
Immediately after the Zionist Congress a serious split in the Revisionist ranks became known when Jabotinsky, founder of the party, announced that he was taking a six months leave of absence because of internal differences regarding the future Revisionist attitude toward the World Zionist Organization.
Mr. Grossman said today that the Revisionists are confident that “all our differences will be settled satisfactorily,” and added that “there are no figure heads in the Revisionist organization.” At the press conference it was also announced that the Revisionists will continue their independent political activities, including propaganda among members of the British Parliament.
The division in the Revisionist party arises from the fact that one group headed by Jabotinsky favors seceding from the World Zionist Organization and the creation of a new independent Zionist Organization. In this stand Jabotinsky and his followers were recently given support by the editors of the Haam, the Brith Trumpeldor, the Revisionist youth organization, the executive of the Palestine Revisionists, and the executive of the Revisionist workers.
Another group lead by Grossman and Richard Lichtheim of Germany advocate propagating Revisionist principles within the World Zionist Organization.
