Poland should take the initiative in summoning an international conference of governments interested in mass emigration of Jews from their respective countries, it was asserted today by Vladimir Jabotinsky, leader of the New Zionist Organization.
Poland, which has given Palestine most of its Jewish settlers has a right to intervene with Britain and the League of Nations to accelerate the settlement of Jews in the Holy Land, he declared.
Mr. Jabotinsky’s remarks have received wide discussion in the Polish press. The conservative Krakow daily, Czas, is publishing a series of articles by Mr. Jabotinsky in which he outlines his views on Zionism and its political future which he regards as having grown more serious in the last few days.
Commenting on the British government’s statement on the Palestine emergency which was issued earlier this week, he said that it did not insure continuance of Jewish immigration into the Holy Land.
If England is unable or unwilling to aid Jews in building a Palestine National Home, said Jabotinsky, it should surrender the League mandate. The question would then naturally arise, according to Mr. Jabotinsky, of handing over the mandate to a group of governments for collective administration.
Excluding Germany, Zionism must turn to every country interested in mass emigration, he declared.
