Jacob Blaustein, Jewish industrialist and communal leader, was awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Fine Arts at commencement exercises of the Maryland Institute of the College of Art. The citation referred to Mr. Blaustein’s activities as an alumnus of the Maryland Institute and cited his gift to the United Nations of the sculpture by Barbara Hepworth in memory of the late Dag Hammarskjold, and for his activities as a statesman, advocate of justice and human rights.
