A luxuriously decorated Bible, representing a gift from Mayor Israel Rokach to Mayor William O’Dwyer of New York, was handed today to Jacob Sincoff, national co-treasurer of the United Jewish Appeal, who is visiting Palestine. The gift, which was presented at a public ceremony here, will be given to O’Dwyer upon Sincoff’s return to the United States.
In a brief talk before representatives of Jewish national institutions and members of Tel Aviv’s municipality, Mr. Sincoff said: “I am happy to be the bearer of this beautiful Bible, a token of the good will of Tel Aviv’s mayor for the mayor of New York. I earnestly pray that in our lifetime a similar gift will be presented by the President of the Jewish state in Palestine to the President of the United States.”
