Jacob Stein, president of the United Synagogue of America, has announced the gift of two buildings and land in the heart of Jerusalem which will become the headquarters of his organization in Israel. The buildings which were formerly a part of an American Protestant Mission, will also house the World Council of Synagogues. “Through its offices in our new quarters,” Stein said, “the United Synagogue of America will develop a full program of activities to service Conservative congregations in Israel.” The properties and half an acre of land, worth more than $500,000, are the gift of Morris Speizman of Charlotte, N.C., WCS president, and Jacob Zucker of N.Y., son of David Zucker, a WCS board member and initiator of the Jerusalem project.
