Herman Jacobs, former educational and club director of the 92nd Street Y.M.H.A. has been appointed assistant executive secretary of the Bronx Y.M.-Y.W.H.A., it was announced Friday. He succeeds Louis H. Sobel, who was recently appointed executive director of the Jewish Community Center of Detroit.
Mr. Jacobs will have charge of the educational activities, and will also assist Abraham W. Rosenthal, executive secretary, in administering the association.
Before assuming his post at the 92nd Street Y.M.H.A. four years ago, Jacobs had been executive director of the Jewish Community House of Bensonhurst. He was formerly president of the Metropolitan Association of Jewish Center Workers, and is at present chairman of the Program Committee of the National Association of Jewish Center Executives, and vice-chairman of the Boys’ Work Section of the Welfare Council of New York City.
