The National Institute of Arts and Letters has designated Jacques Lipschitz, the noted Jewish sculptor, as recipient of its Gold Medal of Sculpture for 1966. The award will be presented to the Lithuanian-born artist at Institute ceremonies on May 25.
The 75-year-old sculptor, whose works are represented in every important museum and many private collections throughout the world, is working on a 39-foot sculpture for the front of the new Law School at Columbia University.
