A statement denying the charge of anti-Semitism levelled against him by the American Jewish Labor Council was issued by James B. Carey, national secretary-treasurer of the Congress of Industrial Organizations. The labor leader made the statement to Robert S. Gamzey, editor of the Intermountain Jewish News, of Denver.

Declaring that the American Jewish Labor Council “is nothing but a Communist Party front,” Mr. Carey termed as “sheer nonsense” the charge voiced by this organization that he is anti-Semitic. “My record in combatting racial and religious discrimination ever since I became old enough to think speaks for itself,” Mr. Carey declared. “So, too, does the record of the C.I.O. and its affiliates.”
