James N. Rosenberg Embarks for Europe to Aid Reich Refugees

James N. Rosenberg, well-known attorney, literary man and artist, will sail for London on the S.S. Olympic tonight to help in the solution of German Jewish Relief problems. He will confer with James G. McDonald, High Commissioner for German Refugees and others engaged in relief work.

Mr. Rosenberg declined to give details regarding his mission. He is the chairman of the Agro-Joint and the American Society for the Settlement of Jews on Farms in Soviet Russia. His work in revitalizing relief activity from a palliative to a constructive nature was outstanding.

He is vice-chairman of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee. When in 1922 he went to Europe for the J.D.C., he directed the expenditure of millions of dollars in behalf of persecuted Jewry. He attended the first conference of the Jewish Agency held at Zurich in 1929 and has been deeply interested in Palestine affairs.

Mr. Rosenberg was one of the organizers of the Central Bank for Palestine, and a founder of the American Joint Reconstruction Foundation, made up of combined resources of the Joint Distribution Committee and the Jewish Colonization Association, Ica.

For many years he directed the United Hebrew Charities and was vice-president of the National Desertion Bureau, a leader of the Allied Jewish Campaign and is a member of the board of directors of the Palestine Economic Corporation.

His play, “Wall Street”, was a Broadway production. His etchings have appeared in art galleries here and abroad.
