Efforts to improve the trade relations between Japan and Palestine and an attempt to attain second place among the countries exporting to Palestine will be made by the Japanese government, it was learned here today.
A direct shipping line between Japan and Palestine will be established in order to facilitate cheaper freight rates for exporters. A Japanese Palestine Chamber of Commerce will be established to promote commercial activities in Palestine.
It is the ambition of the Japanese Ministry of Commerce to take the place next to England on the Palestine market and to increase its export to Palestine to $25,000,000 a year, it was stated here today. At present Japan occupies only fifth place among the countries exporting to Palestine, and comes after England, Germany, the United States and Rumania, with an export which in 1934 reached $4,000,000.
