A Japanese company has offered to provide $5, 000, 000 in credits for equipment to expand production at the Timna copper works near Elath, it was reported here today.
According to the report, which did not mention the name of the company, the firm would agree to buy refined products from the copper mine for several years at fixed prices to help Israel repay the investment. The offer, it was understood, was a sequel to a recent visit to Tokyo by Israel Development Minister Mordecai Bentov. Talks on the proposal are scheduled to be held in Israel in a few days.
