Assurances were given today by the Japanese Consul-General here, Dr. Marishima, to leaders of the local Jewish community that the Japanese Government will take measures to halt the anti-Semitic propaganda conducted in Manchukuo by Russian White Guardists.

The assurances were given as the result of Jewish representations made to the Japanese government, in which it was pointed out that the anti-Jewish propaganda in Manchukuo by the White Russians is encouraged by Japanese officials there.

TOKYO STARTS PROBE

Simultaneously with today’s conference between the Japanese Consul-General and Jewish leaders, the Japanese Government has sent a special official from Tokyo to study the Jewish situation in Manchukuo.

The leaders of the Jewish community here have pointed out to the Japanese Consul-General that the anti-Jewish campaigns of the White Russians has assumed dangerous proportions. The inflammatory anti-Jewish articles which are appearing in the White Russian paper, “Nash Put,” are stimulating constant physical attacks on the Jews, they emphasized.

Dr. Marishima, after becoming acquainted with the facts, promised to cooperate with the Jews, and asked the Harbin Jewish leaders to assure Jews abroad of the friendly feelings which the Japanese Government has toward the Jewish people.
