Ambassador Gunnar V. Jarring is expected to resume his meetings with “the parties involved” in the Middle East dispute, a United Nations spokesman said today. The special Mideast peace mediator arrived here last night from the Soviet Union where he is the Swedish envoy to the USSR. Dr. Jarring was scheduled to meet late this afternoon with UN Secretary General Kurt Waldheim. It will be the first official meeting between the two officials since Waldheim took office 11 days ago. Yesterday afternoon, Israeli Ambassador Yosef Tekoah paid a courtesy call on Waldheim. The new Secretary General will hold his first press conference Feb. 3. Israelis are hopeful that they can persuade Dr. Jarring to disengage himself from his Feb. 8 memo.
