Javits Tells Minorities to Fight Attempts to Impose Discrimination

The Saudi Arabian boycott of American firms with some Jewish ownership and that country’s refusal to permit American Jews to work there on American Government projects represent “an affront to our institutions to endeavor to impose upon us a policy of discrimination in this way, “Rep. Jacob Javits told the annual convention of the Upper New York State Council of B’nai B’rith here yesterday.

The New York Congressman warned that these developments, the McCarran-Walter Omnibus Immigration Bill, exclusions from public housing on racial grounds and the Federal Government’s impotence in dealing with the Florida bombings reveal a trend which “presents a real challenge and opportunity to minority groups in the United States.”
