Jedidio Efron, prominent Jewish leader and educator in Argentina, died here today of a heart attack. He was 73 years old. Born in Lithuania, he came to Argentina 55 years ago and settled on land in one of the colonies established by the Jewish Colonization Association.
In 1910 he received the degree of Professor of Rural Schools at the Escuela Alberdi. Later he was appointed Inspector General of the schools of the Jewish Colonization Association in Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Uruguay. He carried out the first census of Argentine Jewry. He was also active in the B’nai B’rith and in the Zionist Federation. Two years ago he was chairman of the Zionist Council here.
