Jerry Goodis, a founding member of the popular Canadian folk band The Travellers, died of cancer at 73. In 1952, a group of singers from a Toronto-based Jewish group, the United Jewish Peoples Order, decided to form a band on the advice of their friend, American folk singer Pete Seeger. The Travellers rocketed to fame with a Canadian version of the Woodie Guthrie song “This Land Is Your Land.”
