The Mufti of Jerusalem will not receive a life appointment as president of the Moslem Supreme Council, the body which administers Moslem re###ous property in Palestine, Meraat Al Sherk, Arab paper, says.
Previously rumors had been circulated that the Colonial Office favored his retention on life tenure, but it appeared today that elections to the Moslem Council will occur before those to the proposed Legislative Council.
Opposition circles would like the opportunity to dethrone the Mufti from the office he has held for the last twelve years.
