Charles Ashbee, the British architect who is serving as civil adviser to the city planning division of the Jerusalem municipality declared in a sensational address before the students of the University of Michigan that the Jews were seeking to drive the Arabs out of Palestine and dominate the country. The present Zionist policy contradicts Wilson’s fourteen points, he stated. Ashbee charged also that the Balfour Declaration was “unjust”.
Mr. Ashbee is regarded as a close friend of Governor Storrs of Jerusalem and his visit to Ann Harbor so soon after the Governor’s visit at the home of Henry Ford is held by Jews here to be significant.
