The Jerusalem Chief of Police, Levi Abrahami, was ordered today by the Prime Minister’s office to prevent the use of unlicensed trucks to transport passengers on the Sabbath from Jerusalem to the beaches and the countryside.
During the summer months parties of hikers and bathers have used trucks for that purpose because buses do not operate on the Sabbath. Such transport has produced demonstrations and disturbances by Orthodox elements.
