Jewish organizations. The left wing Jewish bodies opposing the appointment of Daniel Auster as vice-mayor of Jerusalem continued to insist today that Auster must resign from his post even before he is inaugurated. On the other hand, the Jewish groups supporting Auster flatly declined to agree to Auster’s giving up the vice-mayorship voluntarily.
The Palestine government, which has appointed Mr. Auster to the vice-mayoralty, thus far has not taken sides in the issue. It is understood, however, that the government does not intend to cancel Auster’s appointment unless Auster himself withdraws from the post to which he was appointed.
The Vaad Leumi, Jewish National Council of Palestine, whi## is not supporting Auster’s are pointment, today began negotiations with the Sephardic-Jewish group to vote for Haim Solomon, the Jewish rival of Auster. The Sephardic-Jewish groups have been siding with Auster throughout the dispute.
