A curfew was clamped on Nablus yesterday as police hunted for the murderer of 62-year-old Maximillian Ross, a Tel Aviv printer, who was shot to death at point blank range while shopping in the Nablus market with his wife and daughter Saturday. About 350 persons were detained for questioning after the shooting. Most of them were subsequently released.
The killer fired them 9 mm. pistol into the back of Ross head and escaped in the narrow crowded streets of the market. Police suspect that he is the same assailant who fired a fatal shot into the head of a Haifa Jew in the Jenin marketplace a month ago. That murder was also committed with a 9 mm. pistol under almost identical circumstances. Ross was related by marriage to Solly Marcus, head of the Mapam movement in Great Britain.
