The Belgian embassy here today confirmed that Paul May will succeed Prince de Ligne as Belgian ambassador to the United States. M. May is now Belgian ambassador to Brazil. He was formerly minister to Sweden. It is not yet known when M. May will assume his new post.

M. May will be the first Jewish ambassador in Washington since the Marquis of Reading represented England here during the World War. M. May is married to a Rothschild.
