The sum of $250,000 was today cabled by the Jewish National Fund of America to its Jerusalem headquarters, it was announced by Dr. Israel Goldstein, President of the JNF in America. The sum was earmarked for the furtherance of the wartime land acquisition and reclamation program which is essential for strengthening the foundation of the Jewish National Home and for providing the population as well as the military forced with a larger measure of locally grown foodstuffs.
In a message conveying the resolve of American Zionists to continue their support for the defense and upbuilding of the Jewish National Home, Dr. Goldstein stressed the fact that the JNF enjoys the cooperation of American Zionists as well as non-Zionists. The message, addressed to M.N. Ussishkin, World President of the JNF, said: “Upset Hitler’s timetable providentially granted Palestine respite which will we hope be permanent and enable defenders builders Jewish Homeland fortify positions for day Victory for which all pray, hope, work. American Zionists grateful for heartened Kayemeth epic achievements under your inspiring guidance which made possible acquisition since war’s beginning scores thousands dunams more land establishment new settlements cultivation new areas and provision essential foodstuffs population and military.”
