Jew Sworn in As President of Panama for 15-day Period

Max Delvalle, first vice-president of Panama, was sworn in here yesterday as President of the Republic for a 15-day period. Mr. Delvalle, an industrialist, is a Jew. He is the first Jew ever to be President of Panama and probably the first Jew ever to be chief of state in any American country.

The interim President will serve during the next fortnight while President Maccos A. Robles attends the conference of hemisphere presidents at Punta del Este, Uruguay. The ceremonies for the swearing in of Mr. Delvalle took place here in the Supreme Court. Most of hie presidential activities during the next two weeks will be ceremonial.
