An official explanation that the population of Thuringia did not want a Jew in office was the reason accompanying a notice of dismissal to Dr. Lewin, a Jewess who is the manager of the professional consultation department in the Thuringian department of labor. The labor supervisor first demanded Dr. Lewin’s resignation although her work was admittedly excellent.
When she declined to resign the notice of dismissal was sent her. Dr. Lewin maintains, however, that the labor department’s explanation is unfounded because she says she has found that the working population has always manifested complete trust in her advice.
