Bloomingdale’s department store has adopted a policy of replacing German-made goods with native American products, Sidney Reisman, general merchandise manager of the store, revealed in a letter to the Non-Sectarian Anti-Nazi League.
“The resistance to German-made goods on the part of the public has grown so strong,” Mr. Reisman declared, “that in the year 1933 we sent no buyers into Germany, and moreover, closed our buying offices in Berlin, which we had for many years. We then adopted a policy which is to replace all foreign merchandise with American products wherever possible.”
