An appeal to district leaders and to the Jewish press of the country to cooperate in the membership campaign of the Zionist Organization of America was made by Morris Margulies, secretary, in a statement issued yesterday.
Margulies in his statement points out that the membership campaign of the Z. O. A. has met thus far with gratifying results, the enrollment showing an increase of thirty-three per cent over the corresponding period of last year.
“But,” stated Margulies, “we shall not rest until we have at least doubled the membership of the Zionist Organization. During the past several months, hundreds of meetings have been held in the interest of the membership campaign-such speakers assisting as Dr. Solomon Goldman of Chicago, Abraham Goldberg of New York and Pierre van Paassen.
“It is to be hoped that the editors of the Jewish press in America will emphasize to their readers that Zionism consists of more than giving an occasional contribution to the campaign, that the real brunt and burden of the movement, and the real satisfaction of helping to establish the Jewish Homeland rests on the organized Zionist activity which means the membership.”
