A farewell evening for Sholom Schwartzbard, who killed the Ukranian pogrom band leader, Simon Petlura, will be held Monday evening, May 21, in Town Hall. Schwartzbard, who came to this country some months ago with a delegation of French World War veterans, is returning to Paris, where he makes his home.
Among the sponsors of the affair are Zelig Tygel, executive director of the Federation of Polish Jews in America; Rabbi Stephen S. Wise, honorary president of the American Jewish Congress; Morris Feinstone, secretary of the United Hebrew Trades; Leo Wolfson, president of the Federation of Rumanian Jews, and David Pinski, noted Jewish writer.
The meeting in Town Hall will also celebrate the appearance of the second volume of Schwartzbard’s autobiography.
