Plans for the establishment of a Jewish Adult Academy in Westchester County in the fall are announced here.
A committee including rabbis of all the reform congregations in the county is in charge, and will constitute the faculty, including: Rabbi Benjamin Werne of Temple Emanu-El, Yonkers; Rabbi Solomon Fineberg of Mount Vernon, Rabbi Alvin Luchs of New Rochelle, Rabbi Lawrence Schwartz of White Plains.
A lay committee in charge includes Henry Y. Schooner, president of Sinai Temple, Mount Vernon, and Sidney A. Haas, president of Temple Emanu-El here.
The courses, of a “university level,” will be intended for Jewish men and women in the country eager to become familiar with the history, religion and literature of the Jewish people. Sessions will be in Sinai Temple, Mount Vernon.
