Carl Atkin, adviser on Jewish affairs to Paul Edwards, UNRRA chief in the U.S. zone of Germany, has resigned, it was learned today, just prior to Atkins’ departure for the United States.
Edwards is reported to be conferring with Rabbi Philip Bernstein, Jewish adviser to the U.S. military forces in Germany, on the appointment of a successor to Atkins. He is scheduled to fly to the U.S. soon, where he will also seek advice concerning a new appointee.
