The fight against the Palestine Government’s ban on Jewish irrigation project in the Negev was today carried to the Colonial Office by the London headquarters of the Jewish Agency.
Zionist sources here charge that the government’s action is motivated by political considerations. The order halting the $1,400,000 project came well after it had been started by the Jewish National Fund and the Palestine Foundation Fund. Approximately one-fourth of the pipeline has already been laid and water is being supplied to three of the 14 Jewish settlements in the desert.
A similar charge has been made against the Palestine Government’s action in forbidding the Jews to participate in the forthcoming British Empire industries fair. However, the Colonial Office has indicated that it favors the holding of a separate exhibition in London to display the products of Palestinian Jewish industry. The Palestine Government’s attitude toward a separate exhibit is still in doubt. Several months ago, when the fair was first projected, the Colonial Office approved the inclussion of exhibits of Palestine products. In effect, this would have meant that the Palestine section would have been filled almost completely with Jewish manufactures.
