Members of the Jewish Agency executive, meeting here in a plenary session, continued their discussion today of the draft constitution for the World Zionist Organization prepared by a committee set up by the last World Zionist Congress.
A discussion also began on the scope of activities of the Jewish Agency based on a feeling among many executive members that this scope should be limited to keep it within the Agency’s financial means. It was noted that since the establishment of Israel, mass immigration has involved more spending than actual income, with mounting debts having been incurred.
The executive voted today to continue loan grants to immigrants to accelerate their integration. The executive also recommended that the Government of Israel should give a bonus to immigrants for foreign currency they bring with them. The meeting decided to negotiate with the Israel Treasury for this proposal.
