The Jewish Agency Executive urged today all Jewish communities and Zionist organizations to increase their efforts on behalf of the Jews on trial in Leningrad. The Agency called on them “to make every effort to alert public opinion in the enlightened countries and to influence governments throughout the world to raise their voices so as to dissuade the Soviet Union from continuing with the show trials; to stop its campaign of oppression against Jews who want to remain in the Soviet Union and to allow those who wish to emigrate to Israel.” (In New York, Dr. Emanuel Neumann, chairman of the Jewish Agency American Section, said today that in accordance with the Executive’s call in Jerusalem efforts will be made in the United States to rally Jewish organizations to voice their protests against the trial.)
