The Jewish Agency today made it clear that its member, Eliahu Dobkin, did not refer to the OSE, Jewish Health Society, when he said at a recent press conference that some organizations which have hitherto worked outside of Israel now claim to be doing 70 percent of the work which is actually being done by the Jewish Agency in Israel.
This remark was made with regard to the ORT, the Agency pointed out, on the basis of a statement by Dr. Aaron Syngalowsky, ORT leader, in Johannesburg, printed in the South African Zionist Record on June 3, to the effect that “the ORT trained 70 percent of Israel’s skilled workers and now begins to develop agriculture, especially mechanized” agriculture. This statement by Dr. Syngalowsky shows that he used such remarks for propaganda purposes, the Jewish Agency declared, adding that “it is clear that Mr. Dobkin intended to stress Dr. Syngalowsky’s exaggeration.”
