The Jewish Agency for Israel, which occupied two brownstone buildings on East 66th Street, today moved to new quarters at 515 Park Avenue, it was announced by Gottlieb Hammer, executive director of the Agency.
Mr. Hammer revealed that, in addition to the Jewish Agency and the United Jewish Appeal, the American Zionist Council, the Zionist Archives and Library and the Theodor Heral Institute, will also be located in the new building. The latter three organizations currently occupy rented space. A committee of real estate experts, headed by William Kaufman, had found that the purchase of a building would be more economical than renting space for all organizations concerned.
Mr. Hammer stressed that the purchase of the building as well as the costs of remodeling it were fully covered by the sale of the old premises plus a mortgage, and therefore did not involve the use of current funds collected by the United Jewish Appeal. The Jewish Agency is the Appeal’s major beneficiary.
