The courageous defense of Jean Littman and Mrs. Suzanne Benvenisti, World Jewish Congress leaders, before a Rumanian court which tried them last October on charges stemming from their contact with the WJC and various Zionist organizations abroad, was praised here today by Berl Locker, Jewish Agency chairman, at a meeting of the Agency.

Mr. Littman, former head of the Bucharest office of the Congress, and Mrs. Benvenisti, WIZO leader and wife of the former president of the WJC section in Rumania, were tried October 29 after two years of imprisonment. He was sentenced to 15 years in jail and she to 10 years.

Zalman Shazar, Agency member, reported in detail on the International Tracing Service headquarters at Arolson, Germany, which is expected to be turned over to German administration after the Allied Powers sign a peace pact with Bonn. Mr. Shazar expressed concern over the possibility of the Germans taking over the ITS, which has in its files document relating to the murder of millions of Jews by the Nazis.
