The Parliamentary Finance Committee last night approved a measure providing for a loan of 1,000,000 pounds ($2,800,000) to the Jewish Agency for work it is doing in the immigrant villages.
Afterwards, the chairman of the committee questioned the legality of a new popular housing program begun yesterday by the government. David Horowitz, director general of the Finance Ministry, under questioning, agreed that a special Law would be needed for the project to continue. The program, which will cost approximately 10,000,000 pounds, will provide 48,000 housing units in various parts of the country.
