Wagner, emphasizing that “the Zionist movement and the State of Israel will always cherish the memory of Robert F. Wagner who for many decades championed the right of the Jewish people to a sovereign state in its ancestral homeland, and was one of the most indefatigable leaders of American opinion and statesmanship in the fight against Nazi persecution.”
