Jewish Agency Official Calis for Immediate Transfer of North African Jews to Israel

The conditions under which North African Jews We are so appalling that they must be transforred to Israel immediately, Eliahu ##kin, Jewish Agency immigration official, who has just returned from a tour of the Jewish communities of North Africa, declared at a press conference here today.

He praised the intelligence and pioneering spirit of the North African Jews. reported that there are some 25,000 Jews now working on the soil in the Atlasantain range who would like to come to Israel, but do not know how to go about ## Speaking of the health conditions prevalent among the Jews, Mr. Dobkin said that they live in a hell as desoribed by Dante.”

Meanwhile, the Agency has established a speial committee to study a plan by ##Eshkol, its treasurer, for the transfer of immigrants from camps to productive ##k in special housing units near cities and settlements. Mr. Eshkol proposes the ##ablishment of small villages of agricultural workers which will at one stroke ## the Agency of the financial burden of caring for them, will open up temporary ##rters for new immigrants in the camps and will give the present immigrants useful ##k to replace their enforced idleness.
