The Jewish Agency purchased today a gold medal designed by the Jewish sculptor Friedrich Been for the Second Zionist Congress, which met in Basle in 1898. The piece was ordered by Dr. Theodor Herzl.
One side of the medal shows a Jewish family, tired of wandering, resting in the shade of a tree near a spring. A figure is pointing the way to Zion. On the reverse side is a quotation in Hebrew from Ezekiel, 37: “I will take the children of Israel from among the nations. . . and bring them into their own land.”
