An agreement renewing the relationship between United Israel Appeal and the Jewish Agency was signed at the October meeting of the Jewish Agency Board of Governors in Jerusalem. Irwin Field, UIA chairman, and Akiva Lewinsky, treasurer of the Jewish Agency, signed the document. This was announced here by Irving Kessler, executive vice chairman of UIA. The UIA, principal beneficiary of the UJA-Campaign, allocated $414 million for the Jewish Agency for Israel programs in fiscal year 1985.
First entered into 25 years ago, the agreement defines the roles and responsibilities of the two organizations. The present agreement reaffirms the Jewish Agency as the exclusive agent of UIA in carrying out its programs in Israel, calls for more complete and timely reporting to UIA, and stresses the appropriate monitoring and evaluation of Jewish Agency programs.
